Absinthe is a distilled, highly alcoholic, anise flavoured spirit derived from herbs including the flowers and leaves of the medicinal plant Artemisia also known as wormwood. Absinthe is often referred to as "La Fee Verte” (The Green Fairy) because of its colouring, typically pale or emerald green. Historically it was widely regarded as a very dangerous drink and is still banned in many countries. This bitter liqueur is best consumed after diluting one part with three to five parts ice- cold water. This causes the drink to turn cloudy (called louching), the water used to dissolve the sugar to decrease bitterness. From miniatures to full size bottles, Drinkswell has Absinthe from various countries ranging from 45% up to 89.9% abv (the strongest in the world). Black Absinthe is now also available.
