Chimay Red 33cl

Chimay Red pours out a deep ruby brown colour, with orange highlights, barely translucent with a fairly thin white head of creamy small bubbles that left a decent lace. Chimay Red has yeast and fruit in the nose, Raisins, plum, also some prunes. Chimay Red has a surprisingly dry flavour, with a more subdued fruit content. There is a hint of citrusy bitterness in the attack, but this fades fairly quickly and the overriding quality is more spicy - cinnamon. Aftertaste is a little bit citrusy, slightly bitter, and fades and mellows fairly quickly. Chimay Red is a very pleasant, easy-to-drink example of the genre, but maybe a little less complex than some of the stronger trappist beers.
