(Pilsner) Jever Pilsner 50cl
Jever Pilsner is probably the most bitter of the Nothern German Pilsners. Jever Pilsner aroma is resiny hops and booming malt leading to a beer with a typical pure white head and just the right amount of carbonation. Taste is of grassy, resiny hops held up well by a very supportive malt base. The label says 'Friesisch Herb' which is 'Fresh, dry' and this is so. (The word 'herb' can also mean 'bitter', which is also fine in this case.) Jever Pilsner is bouncingly fresh, but dry from the high hop rate though still with plenty of mouthfeel. It continues through in the same way to a refreshing, lasting, hop-filled finish. Beautiful beer of character. Not for the faint of heart. Dry, bitter, fresh, moreish.
