Kölsch is an appelation given to top fermented beers brewed only in Cologne and this is one of the best. The term "obergarige" on the label reveals that though this beer has the appearance of a lager it is, in fact, an ale - warm fermented by a top fermenting yeast. Fruh Kolsch is a super pale golden colour with a fizzy white head. as a true kölsch should be. The aroma is simple, and consists of berries, fruity hops, and light bready malts. The taste is immensely satisfying with hops and malts having some great interplay. Fruh Kolsch is soft on the palate, a vague hint of sweetness and a pleasant dry finish. The mouthfeel is light and thirst quenching and the drinkability is exceptional!
