Matured in former bourbon casks at their Lochranza distillery, this is an exceptionally fresh and aromatic Arran release. Nose: Rich and inviting with aromas of vanilla and caramel. Subtle notes of baked apples, cinnamon, and a hint of dried fruit. A touch of oak and a faint spicy undertone complete the bouquet. Palate: Smooth and well-rounded with a creamy texture. Flavours of toffee, butterscotch, and spiced apples are prominent. There's a gentle spice from the oak casks, along with hints of honey and a slight nutty character. The malt base provides a solid foundation, with a touch of fruitiness and citrus balancing the sweetness. Finish: The finish is medium to long, with lingering notes of caramel and spice. A slight oakiness and a hint of vanilla remain, leaving a warm and satisfying aftertaste. Overall, Arran Barrel Reserve is characterized by its rich sweetness, spiced complexity, and smooth texture, making it a versatile single malt that's enjoyable neat or with a splash of water.
