Barti Spiced from The Pembrokeshire Food Company is a blend of Caribbean rums spiced with notes of vanilla, cloves and orange and one special, secret ingredient: Pembrokeshire laver seaweed, also known as Welshman's caviar. As it's bottled at 35% ABV, it can't technically be called a spiced rum, due to laws and that. The name derives from a famous Pembrokeshire Pirate, 'Barti Ddu', or in English 'Black Bart'. Nose: Warm, rich baking spices, marmalade, and a wave of coastal saltiness. Palate: Orange zest persists through cardamom, cloves and ginger, while toffee apples, vanilla and the faintest hint of red cola cubes provide an interesting back-drop. Finish: Medium length, very smooth and a beautiful and interesting blend of spice and salinity.
