(Islay) Bunnahbhain Stiuireadair 70cl

Taking its name from the Gaelic for "Helmsman", Bunnahabhain Stiùireadair showcases the coastal nature of the distillery that lies on the Sound of Islay. Matured in first and second fill sherry casks, this expression is presented without chill-filtration or artificial colouring. The nose is sweet with creamy caramel, dried fruits and vanilla alongside a touch of spice and brine. The palate is creamy with more dried fruits, sea salt and caramel atop a gentle spice and hints of nuts. Mouth. Initially quite hot and spirity, with peppery notes, roasted nuts and a lightly bitter edge. More creamy notes towards the end (toffee, raisins, cake, mocha) as well as some salty notes. Finish: medium long, on malt, berries and chocolate. Dried fruit notes linger on in the finish.
