(Islay) Aerolite Lyndsay 10 Year Old 70cl

A peated single malt from an unnamed Islay distillery, Aerolite Lyndsay has been matured for at least 10 years in 70% ex-Bourbon barrels, 25% ex-Sherry Spanish oak quarter casks, and 5% 'mystery' casks. Nose: very coastal, with a chalky minerality and iodine, as well as hints of fresh lemons and sour apple juice. Uncomplicated but quintessential Islay. Mouth: very forthcoming again, with medicinal and coastal notes on the one hand (as well as kippers and brine) and a light lemon sweetness to balance it. Grapefruits, almond oil, olive juice. Hints of chalk. Finish: medium, fairly dry and ashy. Some minty oak. It focuses on heavy coastal notes and briney smoke, mostly shaped by the bourbon wood. Nothing exceptional but a perfect everyday Islay dram
