Acorn Old Moor Porter 50cl
Now porter is the stuff that everybody used to drink if they couldn't afford claret. Some say it got its name from the erstwhile porters of Covent Garden. Anyway, the dark beer went out of vogue with the advent of the lighter pale ales of the late Industrial Revolution. But the style has seen some revival in recent years as drinkers look for more flavour in their ale. This one from award winning Acorn is a full bodied Victorian type porter. There are hints of liquorice and fruit cake from black and chocolate malts, followed by hoppy bitterness. Roasted malt, coffee, plain chocolate and liquorice all feature in the smooth and enjoyable taste with a long mellow finish
