A traditional stout brewed with black malt rather than roasted barley. Dark as the night and hugely satisfying with a familiar stout body. Pours dark brown with a foamy off-white head. The nose holds lightly burnt malts, cocoa, leaves. Light sweet flavour with some char, crackers, burnt earth, bread. Light bodied with fine carbonation; good condition. A creamy yet tangy texture and a long dry finish. Balanced with further toasted malts, dry chocolate, light earthy bitterness, molasses. Solid. A traditional stout brewed with black malt rather than roasted barley. Dark as the night and hugely satisfying with a familiar stout body it is excellent with robust Northumbrian fare including Alnwick Stew and Pan Haggerty. Marketed as Father Ted Stout for St Patrick's Day when its accompaniments might be Irish Stew, colcannon and Cashel Blue cheese.
