Created at the Bruichladdich distillery,The Botanist is made in a Lomond still christened Ugly Betty and contains no fewer than 31 botanicals, of which 22 are native to the Southern Hebridean island itself. These latter include the likes of Mugwort, Meadow Sweet and the enigmatic Lady's Bedstraw flowers, and the resultant dry gin is described, perhaps unsurprisingly, as 'floral'. Its not all style and no substance either. This is a world-class gin, at a proper abv. Complexity of a single malt but a gin, very floral on entry and very dry on palate. Makes an awesome Tom Collins and Bramble cocktail not so much Martini. Use it for what its good at and it is the best. Just Great stuff. An international panel of wine makers, sommeliers, journalists and oenologues have given the Botanist Gin top award. And not once, but twice - for both the gin itself and the packaging
