Mongozo Premium Pilsener 33cl

Mongozo pours a clear, very pale golden colour, with one finger of fast disappearing thin foamy white head, which leaves a band of coral reef lace around the glass. It smells of mildly sweet grain, and floral, grassy hops. The taste is dry rice, faint barley grain, and musty floral hops, sweet, but still a lot of grains and hops that gives enough bitterness. The carbonation is moderate, and a bit fizzy, the body light, but not particularly thin, smoothness precluded by the carbonic zip. Mongozo finishes just off-dry, the leafy, musty hops doing more to overshadow the malt than anything. While as good as other gluten-free offerings out there, this is still a good pilsener. Plus it is unquestionably refreshing, clean, and crisp. Overall it tastes like a decent, low-key lawnmower beer -- there's even an interesting bit of a grassy hit in the hops.
