South Africa Castle Lager 33cl

Castle Lager is a South African lager, claiming to be South Africa's favourite beer. Brewed using maize (as well as the usual hops, barley malt, yeast and water). Castle Lager pours a golden yellow with a fizzy white head that dissipates rather quickly, but never completely goes away. The nose is very fresh and citrussy, with lots of lemon peel and grassy notes. On the palate Castle Lager is refreshing, primarily hops, crisp and cool with a salady and fruity undertone and has just enough of a bitter bite to remain full tasting. Mouthfeel of Castle Lager is not overly carbonated, a nice texture that leaves a defininte aftertaste which is very clean. Brewed to be drunk ice cold to quench thirst rather than savoured. It won a gold medal in the 1907 Rand Show, whatever that is. Can't argue with that, can you?
