Liefmans Frambozen 37.5cl

Liefmans Frambozen is a Belgian fruit beer brewed with raspberries, but unlike fruit lambics, this has a Flemish sour beer base. Liefmans Frambozen is reddish-brown in colour, with a white, frothy head containing just a hint of pink. The nose consists of raspberries in no small measure, with a slight estery, bonbon hint to it. In the mouth Liefmans Frambozen is at once sherbety-sweet and almost mouth-twistingly sour. It is also intensely fruity - chiefly raspberries of course, but with cherry and lemon notes also present. A delayed bitterness is also discernible around the sides of the tongue if a larger mouthful is taken. Liefmans Frambozen Aftertaste is a mixture of sour fruit and sherbet - it is very clean, astringent and expectorant. A quality fruit beer - much less sickly-sweet than more commercial examples, with a tartness that balances it very well.
