Samuel Smiths Stingo 55cl

Samuel Smiths Stingo pours a clear orange colour with a medium sized off white head, frothy with good lacing. Soft and elegant malt aroma with a nutty and fruity scent, malty, roasted, caramel, vintage, raisin, prune, cask wood, alcohol. Refined malt sweetness in the flavour of caramel and dried fruits with notes of hops. Mild bitterness, pepper and wood notes. Moderate to heavy sweet and light bitter with an average to long duration. Body is medium with the texture oily, the carbonation is soft. All the sweetness is partial countered by notes of bitter spices and tangy malts. Smooth on the swallow and mouth-filling Hoppy finish. A very nice one.
Bottle conditioned only.
Some of the oak casks at Samuel Smith's date back more than a century with the individual oak staves being replaced by the Old Brewery coopers over the years. Gradually the casks soak in more & more of the character of the ale fermented in stone Yorkshire squares. Yorkshire Stingo is aged for at least a year, matured in these well-used oak casks in the brewery's underground cellars
