La Trappe Tripel 33cl

La Trappe Tripel is a strong Trappist beer from the Schaapskooi brewery In the Neterlands. It is a hazy golden colour with a fine, bubbly, fairly tenacious head. The nose contains lots of malty and light fruit notes (cherries and cranberries), with phenols in the background. La Trappe Tripel is clean and dry, with sour citrus and zesty notes, it starts off moderately spicy with the pepper but and some yeast character with some floral notes. This is accompanied by a subtle spirit-like bite, which lingers into a bitter-sweeet aftertaste. Hops also come through towards the finish, but are fairly subdued. La Trappe Tripel goes down nicely, with a subtle complexity that isn't overwhelming. An interesting and complex example of the 'tripel' style from the Dutch trappist monastery.
