Springbank 15 year old Malt Whisky is a well balanced whisky in the pure tradition of Springbank. Nose: Amazingly buttery; butterskist popcorn/creme caramel/tablet. Distinctly fruity. Peaches. Sherryish. Nutty. Water opens it and rings out some dry smoke, sultana and charred oak. Palate: Mouthfilling, complex. Sweet, then unfolds and dries: date loaf, black olive, smoke, caramelised fruits. Leather, long, great balance. Hazelnuts and black chocolate hints are also present. A pleasant complexity with vanilla, liquorice and coconut hints. Gains power as it develops but is subtle and complex, not overpowering. Springbank 15 year old Malt Whisky is a charming whisky, just as the distillery itself.
