The latest release from Smokehead is a powerful single malt free from chill filtration. This expression comes from an undisclosed Islay distillery and has been bottled by Ian Macleod Distillers Ltd. On the nose, there are aromas of ginger, malt, and vanilla. The palate has intense smoke, complemented by cracked black pepper, toasted nuts, and rich dark chocolate before moving into the dry, nutty, and medicinal finish. If you're a fan of smokey Islay whiskey then this is a cracking example. Rich, dark, packed with smoke and pear notes that are powerful but subtle at the same time. Seriously toys with your head!! Not for the faint-hearted but if you love smoke and peat this is for you. Big, complex and well balanced.
