Tomintoul 16 year old Malt Whisky The Tomintoul distillery was built in the 1960s and the location was chosen for the exceptional quality of the Ballantruan Spring water which is used exclusively in the production of the Tomintoul malt whisky. Nose: Intense and sharp. Slightly spirity. Leafy. Fern. Cherry trifle. White pepper, Cereal with some nutty/toffee notes and baked fruits. Palate: Enveloping and warm. Velvety. Cream fudge. A lot of spices. Nutmeg, cinnamon, pepper. Finish: Long-lasting. Warm. Gently vanishing with almonds and nuts. Quite a muscular Speysider. Comment: The perfect dram to buck you up after a woodland walk mushroom-picking on a cold November day.
