From the illustrious Glenlivet distillery at Speyside's heart, aged for 12 years. The archetypal Speyside dram, honey and orchard fruit driven. Nose: Lifted. Apple wood, heather, baked soft fruits mixed with cereal, citrus and pear. In time there's notes of freshly-sawn wood, freesia and dried orange peel. Complex but light as well. Palate: Light and fragrant. All the notes on the nose come through, Spices emerge but not excessively so. A splash of water brings out flavours. Medium-bodied and gentle. Finish: Dry and clean, Satisfying, warm and spicy. Comment: This is the one that began my love affair with Scotch Whisky
