Glenfiddich Solera 15 year old Malt Whisky is matured in ex-bourbon, ex-sherry and new oak barrels. Then this beautifully balanced single malt is left to settle in a small Solera tun before bottling. Nose: Honey with hints of wood and vanilla, complex spice and fresh fruit. Chocolate, toast and a hint of peat. Palate: Honey again, perfectly balanced by delicate spice and Glenfiddich maltiness. Smooth, silky, white chocolate. Pears-in-cream. Cardamom. Finish: Medium length, with sherry notes and spiciness. Cream. Hint of ginger. Comment: Elegant. Well-balanced to the point of suavity. The sweetness is effortlessly balanced by drier oakiness.
