(Speyside Central) Cragganmore 12 year old Malt Whisky 70cl

Cragganmore 12 year old Malt Whisky. Nose: Complex, rich mix of flowers, fruit (dried and caramelised), plum, baked apple, currant, honey, roast chestnut, meat and toffee. Phew. Palate: A soft start, then dark fruits mixed with light honey and cooked peach. A rich, elegant, silky texture that fills the mouth. A wonderful complexity, starting on slightly acid notes (citrus fruit) which are soon replaced by a kind of alcohol feeling, fading rapidly to make room for some very nice smooth malty notes. Finish: Soft with a gentle hint of smoke. Comment: complex and really representative of the whiskies of that area. Balances richness and fragrance superbly, Very accessible, and not given to grandiosity, but it's one of the Speyside greats. Good with some desserts. Try it with cassata.
