Glenkinchie 12 year old Malt Whisky is often marketed as 'The Edinburgh Malt'. The Glenkinchie distillery is located in Pencaitland, only 14 miles from Edinburgh and the closest remaining distillery to Scotland's capital. Nose: Floral and spirity. Exceptionally malty and reminiscent of boiled barley-sugar candy. Palate: Sweet, grassy-sharp and mouthwatering. Dominant malt, a hint of banana and custard. Soft, spicy: cinnamon and, ginger. Beautiful balance of sweetness and dryness. Finish: Intense vanilla and caramel with rich oaky tones and a delicate hint of smoke. Slightly bitter at finish. Comment: Delightfully intense even though it is not the most typical of Lowlanders.
