(Southern Highland) Glenturret Triple Wood Malt Whisky 70cl

Glenturret has long been known as the spiritual home of The Famous Grouse. 2015 saw a new range introduced, including this Triple Wood. Aged in a combination of three cask types: American oak sherry, European oak sherry and American oak bourbon, this is aromatic with notes of marzipan and coconut. Nose: Vanilla, leather, butterscotch, caramel, toffee, cinnamon sprinkle. Taste: Sweet candy, vanilla, herbal tea, orange, tannins, smoke. Finish: Bitter oak, sour cherry and roasted nuts. Minty caramel now, as well as camphor, malt drops and distinct notes of cut grass. Comments: This is an odd one. Very hard to pin down. The finish surprised me and was far more complex than the nose indicated.
