As the industry has expanded many countries imported French vines, but Portugal's location kept them in isolation, allowing them to focus purely on their native vines that were already producing wonderful crop like: Touriga Nacional, Tinto Cão and Trincadeira. Today, they utilize that rich history and blend with modern winemaking techniques to produce wines of incredible value and of a definite personality. Vinho verde has become so popular there is an entire week over the summer celebrating its deliciousness!
