While Chile is considered a New World wine region, it has a distinct viticultural history that dates back to the 16th Century when Spanish Conquistadors first brought Vitis vinifera vines to South America. While most of the world views Chile as a younger, developing wine region, native Chileans have been enjoying their wines for centuries. Juicy, rich and robust reds like Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere and Merlot are excellent examples of grapes that grow well in here. With the Andes Mountains to the east and the Pacific Ocean to the west, these vines sit between some of the most beautiful landscapes one can imagine
