Hommel Poperings bier is a beautiful, pale-coloured beer from one of Belgium's more noteworthy hop-producing areas. The short-lived, loose head subsides to light notes of vanilla and spice on the nose, clearly marking this out as close in style to a tripel. Hommel is very well balanced overall and quite refreshing it starts out with a light sweet candy maltiness upfront with hints of caramel, fresh yeast and a heavy helping of spicy, herbal hops with a touch of fruit and grain. ends on the bitter side. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with fast moving carbonation. Goes down smooth this doesn't detract from the spicy, vanilla notes that are otherwise very pleasant. It is quite sweet, but not too cloying.
