Orkney Skull Splitter Strong Ale 33cl

Orkney Skull Splitter Strong Ale is named after a Viking, the earl of Orkney from around 1000 AD, this is a well-known and well-respected Scottish ale with the strength to live up to its name. Skull Splitter Strong Ale is Reddish-brown in colour, its nose is very malty, with a rich, puddingy quality combining notes of burnt black treacle, dark fruit. On the palate a welter of dark fruit flavours and maybe even a touch of cinnamon, along with a pleasing smoky quality. Though sweet it remains quite bitter around the tongue, giving a pleasant balance that combines beautifully with its complexity and warmth. Finish is surprisingly smooth and bitter, with a malty, smoky, treacly aftertaste. Skull Splitter Strong Ale can be classed as an excellent Scottish barleywine
