Isle of Skye Black Cuillin Ale 50cl

Isle of Skye Black Cuillin Ale could probably best be described as a Scottish style Light Stout or Porter if such things exist. Pours a Rich Black colour, the head is rocky, off white and the vestiges cling fiercely as the glass empties. Black Cuillin Ale is a silky smooth mixture of roast malt and unusually, roast rolled oats. This gives the beer a delicate smooth texture. Carbonation is on the light side which suits the beer. Flavour is very much of roast malt with some fruity esters (fig and bramble) but there is also a sharp almost spicy touch hidden within. Very roasty throughout to a deep roasty, bitter slightly fruity finish with some resiny hop. Delightful dark beer of some complexity. Black Cuillin Ale a must for bottled porter or stout lovers.
