Soberano 8 year old Solera Reserva is matured in barrels previously containing Jerez wine. Beautiful mahogany/old copper color delights the eye; perfect clarity. Initial whiffs detect a significantly woodier opening aroma than the younger siblings and, as such, there's a slight dearth of fruit; leather, wax, parchment, and concentrated nuttiness abound in the second sniffs. Entry is focused, medium-sweet, composed, and very much like dried fruits, specially apricots, raisins, prunes; mid-palate builds upon the dried fruit, adding leathery notes of oloroso sherry, oak, and tobacco. Ends up a touch chalky, mediumsweet, date-like, and baked
