Bennachie 17 year old is a superb marriage of fine and rare malt whiskies, including a proportion of Speyside malts especially matured in sherry casks. Nose Light gold. Unreduced it shows fruit cake, heather and apricot. With water a strange fizzy quality appears. Sherbet dab, heather-honey and light smoke. Palate The fizziness continues on the palate. There are some sherry notes, but oak dominates. Finish Oaky and dry. Comment Light but pleasant, with some delicacy and complexity
