Bushmills 1608 Irish Whisky is a special bottling to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the license to distil aqua vitae in Antrim originally granted in 1608 to Sir Thomas Phillips. This has already won 'Best Irish Blended Whiskey (No Age Statement)' at the World Whiskies Awards 2008. Bushmills 1608 Irish Whisky Nose Rich, soft and deep with sherry well in evidence. Turned earth, charred wood, raspberry, currant, hedgerow fruits. Almost jammy with a crisp cereal centre and some vanilla. Palate Big, soft and very smooth. A silky mouthful. Finish Starts juicily, then becomes dry and malty. Comment A less exuberant Black Bush: Very rich and sweet and more brooding.
