Clynelish 1997 cask strength Single Highland Malt Scotch Whisky bottled in 2008 matured in single sherry butt casks. Unusual complexity for its age like a precocious young child, bursting with energy yet with a maturity beyond its tender years. Tasting notes, undiluted: Nose: Dried fruits - dates, prunes and figs. Some malty notes, hessian and new leather. Palate: Sweet and cloying, rich fruits and treacle toffees. Reminiscent of dark chocolate liqueurs.
Clynelish 1997 cask strength, With water: Nose: Sweet sherry notes with fermented fruit aromas. Oak and tobacco aromas. Some dry grass and hay-like notes. Palate: Sweet cream sherry flavours. Some oak and walnut notes also present. Roasted malt. Body: Thick and cloying. Finish: Sweet with some roasted maltiness. Style: Aromatic with a coating texture - not to be hurried
