Secret Stills 6.1 1988 Malt Whisky is a special bottling from a distillery founded in 1797 in the small Highland village of Oldmeldrum. Secret Stills 6.1 is from four refill American hogsheads distilled in 1988 and bottled in Elgin in 2007. Colour: Pale gold. Nose Sweet vanilla aromas - hints of candy floss. Soft fruits - peaches and nectarines with some new wood aromas. Palate, Sweet and spicy - liquorice and menthol. A little pepperiness follows. A delicate fruitiness is complimented by a touch of peat smoke. With Water: Nose The sweetness remains with hints of fruit (red berries). The peaty character starts to develop. Palate. Spicy with smoky notes - charred oak. Sweet, vanilla notes still present. Finish Sweet and spicy.
