Bruichladdich Waves is matured in bourbon casks for 7 years then finished in Malmsey Madeira casks. "Master distiller Jim McEwan, inspired by his native island's wild seas and storm-lashed coast, has designed "Waves" from a range of contrasting Bourbon and Madeira casks, and medium and light peating levels. Bruichladdich Waves on tasting has a range of complex flavours - cranberry, raisin, vanilla, peat-smoke - creating a vibrant yet sweet dram, with just a hint of fresh ocean spray. Distilled, matured and bottled at Bruichladdich with ultra-pure Islay spring water. Closed down in 1994; it has been silent ever since. That is, until 2001 when the plant was entirely renovated with the original equipment
