(Speyside Central) The Speyside 12 year old Malt Whisky 70cl

The Speyside 12 year old Malt Whisky derives it's name from the region where it's distilled The Speyside 12-year is a Speyside malt, which is itself a form of Highland malt. They're known for their sweeter characteristics and their lightly peaty, lightly smoky flavour. Nose: Some peaty grassiness. creamy, maltiness. Very nutty indeed. There's half-melted cream toffee, yellow fruit gums, hay loft and an aroma that's like a freshly baked sponge cake. Palate: Immediately sweet and coats the mouth with a pleasant maltiness. A little spice towards the middle, alongside some sweet vanilla. Finish: Sweet coffee and lingering oils. Comment: A fine malt, with great character for its relative youth. Good to see one of the newest distilleries now offering a 12year old. One to watch. Greater ages are eagerly awaited
