Glentauchers 1991 Malt Whisky. Glentauchers Distillery worked continuously, with exception of the war-time years, until 1985 when it was mothballed. In 1989 it was sold to Allied Distillers who had it back in production within the year. Glentauchers is a key component in Allied Domceq's Blended Scotch Whisky brands such as Ballantines and Teachers Highland Cream. Nose: Floral and fruity. Wild rose, apple blossom. Barley sugar. Sweet apple compote. Slightly spirity. Hint of toffee. Gentle and delicate. Apple pie, banana, cooked brown sugar. A little buzzy with alcohol. Palate: Light bodied. Fruit kernel, orchard fruit. Lively with a hint of flowers. Overripe medlar. Diluted Nose: Leafy aromas with sherry, some chocolate and nutty notes with a hint of malt and oats. Spiced initially with the sherry slowly developing. A subtle smoky note. Finish: Tangy and dry, soothing almondy notes.
