(Speyside Devron) Glenglassaugh Malt Whisky 1986 70cl
Glenglassaugh Malt Whisky 1986 owned by Highland Distillers who rebuilt a lot of the distillery in 1960 it was later mothballed in 1986. Nose: On the edgy side of fragrant: sweet apple, green pear, quince. With water becomes more like a freshly peeled apple. Palate: Another light and fresh dram. Orange Spangles, very lively, light fruits Good balance and real charm. Fragrant though with surprising depth. Direct and sweet. Good grip and decent balance. Finish: Drying, tingling oak leaving a lasting bitterness Comment: Glenglassaugh can be malty, and this one is. It stands up very well for it's age. In this bottling, with an apricot colour that suggests sherry, very much a desert whisky. Not the most complex, but a bloody good drink. Mothballed since 1986, and it does not look like it could ever be reopened
