(Speyside Dufftown) Dufftown Malt Whisky 1998 70cl
Dufftown Malt Whisky 1998 bottled 2008. Dufftown, pronounced 'duff-ton', lies at the confluence of the rivers Fiddich and Dullan on their way to the Spey. Nose: A real nut-bowl aroma: almond, hazelnut and some creamy brazil, as well as a hint of marzipan and wholemeal maltiness. In time a toffee note. Restrained spices (nutmeg). Palate: Smooth and mellow. Good balance. Lots of marzipan. Lovely weight and feel with a spicy nuttiness. Softens as it moves in the mouth. Finish: Nutty with decent length. Unexpectedly dry, rather short. Crisp, slightly bitter. Warms up with spicy notes. Comment: To be served with an apple and hazelnut crumble. Good Speyside character with a good, mid-weight nutty style.
