St. Magdalene Malt Whisky 1975 70cl

St. Magdalene Rare old Malt Whisky1975 bottled 2005. The Distillary was closed in 1983. Nose: Assertive, nutty and malty with burnt stubble and rich bourbon oak. Dry but characterful. Good oakiness. Palate: Lemon, vanilla with crisp red fruits and orange. Decent feel. Fills the front of the mouth then narrows and tightens. Very direct, as the nose suggests. Brown sugar on porridge, followed by marmalade on toast. Finish: The memory of oak and grass. Appetising. Comment: I like its directness, there's nothing fussy or fancy about this, just a bloody good drink.
