(Eastern Highland) Royal Lochnagar 12 year old Malt Whisky 70cl

Royal Lochnagar 12 year old Malt Whisky is from one of the smallest distilleries in the Highlands. It stands just beyond the boundaries of Balmoral Castle, at the foot of the majestic peak from which it takes its name and its pure mountain water. Royal Lochnagar is a fairly big malt with a light smokiness. Its nose is Fruitcake. Faint burnt currants. On the Palate: Cakey, sherryish, sultanas with a malty, grassy, sweetness. Good bitter-sweet balance from the off Hot and spirity. Again some sherry, fruity notes in great harmony as you'd expect. Finish: Peatier, but becomes rich and spicy. Comment: Complex, beautifully rounded and soothing.
