(Northern Highland) Brora Malt Whisky 1982 70cl

Brora Malt Whisky 1982 bottled 2006. Brora Distillery was closed in 1983 due to the recession and today its buildings are used as warehouses and as a visitor centre for its still active sister -the Clynelish Distillery. Nose: A curiously sweet/ dry peatiness. Almost chewy oak/malt resonance that forms an ever greater backbone than the soft by significant smoke polish. Palate: Smoothness meeting sweetness. Christmas cake flavours, dark chocolate. Teasing balance of sweet, creamy maltiness and salty, savoury, vegetal flavours. After the walk, warming soup. Finish: Sensuously lingering, laced with spices. Slightly peppery with drier oaky tones. Almost too beautifully balanced to be true. Smoky aftertaste. Comment: More Islay-like than its Clynelish brothers. Was this some of the last made with highly peated malt?

Strength: 43.0% ABV
